WHAT’S IT LIKE TO HOST JUNIOR STUDENTS?
Hosting junior students can be a rewarding experience for you and your family. Many hosts enjoy seeing students gain confidence, settle in and improve their English during their stay.

- When can I host junior students?
Our junior programmes run during European school holiday periods (13th – 24th April, 15th June – 28th August, 19th – 23rd October 2026), however we also have school groups who come for 4 or 5 nights in the spring and autumn (from 23rd March 2026). - What ages are junior students?
Our pre-teen programme is for students aged 12 years old and our teenage programme is for students between 13-17 years old (average age of 15 years in 2025). - What nationalities study at the school?
French, Italian, German, Spanish (4 most common in 2025). - How long do junior students stay?
The average length of stay for junior students is one or two weeks at a time, however can occasionally be up to six weeks, depending on their age. - What do I need to provide?
A comfortable bedroom, continental breakfast, packed lunch and an evening meal shared with the household. Up to four students can stay per home, depending on space. - Do I need to provide transfers?
Yes. Hosts are responsible for airport or harbour transfers at the start and end of the stay. - What is the daily routine?
Students attend lessons and activities from around 9:00 and return after 16:30. Evening and weekend activities are organised during the summer. - How do students travel?
Teenagers use public buses. Pre-teen students are transported by school minibus. - Where are hosts located?
Hosts can be based across the island, with students attending programmes in St Helier or St Aubin. - What safeguarding is required?
You should welcome students as members of your family and show concern for their welfare, safety and security during their stay, in line with our school safeguarding policy. - What support is available?
Support is available from our Student Services team during weekday working hours, with an emergency phone line provided out of hours.
Please note: DBS checks can take up to six weeks so we recommend applying early if you’re planning to start hosting juniors from the springtime.

Hosting adult students offers the opportunity to meet people from different countries and share cultural experiences. Many hosts build lasting friendships with their guests.
KEY FACTS ABOUT HOSTING ADULT STUDENTS
- When can I host junior students?
Adult students study at St Brelade’s College from the spring through to the autumn (23rd March – 23rd October 2026). - What ages are adult students?
Adult learners are typically aged 18+, with an average age in the mid-50s. - What nationalities study at the school?
German, French, Swiss, Austrian (4 most common in 2025). - How long do adult students stay?
Most stays last one to two weeks, although some students may stay for longer periods. - What do I need to provide?
A single room (or double for couples), continental breakfast and an evening meal. Students arrange their own lunch. - Do I need to provide transfers?
Yes. Hosts are responsible for airport or harbour transfers at the start and end of the stay. - What is the daily routine?
Students attend lessons from 9:00 until lunchtime, with optional afternoon excursions and social evenings on certain days. - How do students travel?
Students are provided with bus passes, and additional transport may be arranged for certain events. - Where are hosts located?
Hosts can be based across the island. - What safeguarding is required?
