Supporting the Tibetan people in India, Nepal & Tibet
Each year, St Brelade’s College pledges to donate to charities at home and abroad that are close to the hearts of our staff or hosts. For every student that takes a course at St Brelade’s College, we donate £1 to an agreed charity.
The chosen charity for the second half of 2019 was the Tibet Foundation. This charity works and supports Tibetan communities in education, health care, social welfare and economic development, whilst helping to maintain their unique cultures and customs.
The work of the charity can be broken down into four main areas:
- Helping to build a sustainable future for Tibetans in exile mainly through sponsorship
- Providing aid to Tibet which is channelled into education, health care and poverty relief
- Rebuilding Buddhist traditions in Mongolia after years of Soviet rule
- Bringing awareness of Tibet’s ancient wisdom & artistic heritage to the UK
During the period from July – end December this year, 1,292 students will have studied with us, therefore we will be donating £1,292 to the Tibet Foundation.
We are very pleased to be able to donate to such a worthy cause, that is able to offer so much help and support to school children, young adults, elderly people, nuns and monks, and nomads in Tibet and the Tibetan Diaspora.
