The Hathways are the 2019 winners of the host of the year award
As always, we have had so much positive feedback from our students about their hosts this year. Their comments & reflections of their homestays can be quite touching, when they’ve formed strong bonds with hosts and had such a memorable time.
Choosing one host to win this award is always hard, as we feel all of our hosts are winners! However, we have to find one winner and feel that the Hathaway’s dedication and commitment to hosting our students for so many years, along with the wonderful student feedback they have received this year, has left them shining.
Jeff & Caroline Hathaway have been hosting for St Brelade’s College for over 20 years. They began hosting when their children were young and although their children are now living independently, they have continued hosting every year. They have hosted a variety of students, from young to mature, from different corners of the world, from students to business professionals and have always proved an extremely popular homestay. There never seems to be a lack of conversation in this friendly household and students regularly comment on how welcomed they have felt staying with them. We’d like to thank them both for the time they have dedicated to our students over the years and the commitment they have shown in their role as homestay hosts.
Caroline commented on her own experiences of hosting:
“We started hosting because we had a spare room and we enjoy the company of teenagers. We love the feeling that most students will have good memories of their experience in Jersey, partly because our family welcomed and cared for them.”
