We had so much positive feedback from our students about their hosts this year. It has been lovely reading their comments and the British Council inspectors were privileged to listen to the lovely reflections and memories of their stays first hand.
We found it very difficult to select one host but feel that due to their flexibility in accepting student placements, positive feedback, extensive student welcome and integration into daily life, Rebekah & Mike Key and their daughter have won our 2018 homestay of the year award.
The Key family has hosted with St Brelade’s College since 2015. They love walking, beach visits, photography, sewing, cooking & baking and have had shared their many interests with their students this year. Over the year, they have hosted a large number of students and have received many endearing messages from them, following their stays.
Rebekah commented on her own experience of hosting:
“Hosting is very rewarding and this is the fourth year we have hosted students. It’s like having a temporary expansion of our family as many of the students get involved with family life. We have had many students that we have been sad to leave us when their stay was over. What a wonderful year of hosting this has been!”
