An internationally recognised teaching certificate providing you with the theory and practice to teach at home or abroad

The Trinity College CertTESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is one of the two most widely recognised EFL teaching qualifications (English as a Foreign Language). The course includes theory based input sessions covering the essentials such as teaching methodologies, classroom management, phonetics and grammar together with observed teaching practice to give you the confidence to stand up in front of a class, as well as teach online. The final element – external moderation from Trinity College London – validates the course, ensuring it is accepted by most language centres around the world including all British Council accredited centres such as ours.

Why choose the Trinity CERT TESOL course?

There are a wide number of TEFL courses available nowadays, many offering online assessment. Many such courses claim to be ‘globally recognised’ or linked to reputable educational institutions. However, it is important to know that for UK schools like St Brelade’s College that are accredited by the British Council, there are generally only two acceptable courses – the Cambridge CELTA and the Trinity Cert TESOL. These are the ‘industry standard’, offering two important criteria that most online courses lack. Firstly, they include teaching practice which is observed and assessed by qualified instructors and secondly they are moderated externally by a recognised institution. Before enrolling on any TEFL course you should check these two factors first if you are considering working in a UK school.

This is the theoretical part of the course, taught in a series of input sessions. These are internally assessed and externally moderated.

Gain an insight into the difficulties of learning a foreign language from the learner’s viewpoint. This part of the course introduces an unfamiliar language as well as a variety of teaching methodologies.

You will be assigned a foreign student of English to profile. The aim is to discover through an in-depth analysis, the various factors, such as mother tongue and/or cultural background which affect the learning situation in the classroom.

Progress from peer teaching to teaching classes of foreign students. The lesson preparation is discussed with tutors, who also observe and assess the lessons & provide feedback and developmental support throughout the course.
